Nevşehir University ,Faculty of Science and Arts was founded in accordance with the law numbered 5662 and dated 17th of May 2007.Nevşehir University ,Faculty of Sciences and Arts, Department of Archaeology has begun undergraduate education in 2010-2011 academic year. Language of instruction is Turkish. |
Students who complete all courses available in the program and get at least 2.00 grade point average out of 4.00 are given a bachelor’s degree in Archaeology. |

In our country in order to enter a university it is necessary to be successful in university entrance examination. Entering an undergraduate program depends only on the point taken from this exam. Students, according to their points, send ÖSYM their preference form. ÖSYM is an institution operated by YÖK.ÖSYM after taking the forms put them into groups and put the students’ points in a top-down order. ÖSYM lists available programs and puts the students in one of the programs chosen. Foreign students can also be accepted to our universities according to results of an exam called YOS. Necessary documents needed to register: 1-High school or an equivalent diploma 2-ÖSYM student placement exam result |
In Turkish higher education institutions, evaluation of previous collage credit process is in its beginning phase. So, in Nevşehir University evaluation of previous collage credit in all departments has not begun yet.But exemption exams are being held for some courses such as English and Computer at the beginning of each academic term. Students who are considered of having the expected learning outcomes are exempt from these lessons. |
In Archaeology department in order to get an undergraduate academic degree students have to pass all obligatory and optional courses(in total 240 ECTS) and get an average point of 2.00 out of 4.00. |
The basic objective of the archaeology department is to train graduates who have the ability of defining, explaining, applying, deciding and teaching basic principles of general archaeology and three sub-departments(Classical Archaeology, Protohistory and Near Eastern Archaeology, Prehistory), have the ability of working on archaeological excavations and have all authority and responsibilities provided by laws. Department of Archaeology carries it’s inner and outer activities and duties in the frame of it’s vision through rectorate which is a higher institution. Department of archaeology trains it’s students so that they will be employed in the field where archaeology is used. Partners which department of archaeology is expected to interact with or interacts with can be summarized as; TUBİTAK,General Directorate of Foundations, The Ministry of Culture and Tourism and museums and other institutions operated by this Ministry, universities, municipalities, reserch institutes, institutions, graduates, Association of Archaeologists. Our department is trying to train our students in the best way with its academicians and research assistants. In our department some BAP supported projects are being carried .These projects creates a positive athmosphere for our students. Some successful and volunteer students are given opportunities to work in research labs. and they are encouraged to be academicians. |

Every student must register for the lessons and must attend at least %70 of the lessons and %80 of applied courses in order to have final exams. Students are tested with one visa exam and one final exam for each course. Visa exam’s contribution(points get by some measurement tools such as homeworks, applied tests quizzes can be take into consideration as visa exam grades) to grade point average is %40 and final exam’s is %60. All exams are evaluated out of 100 points. It is necessary to take at least 45 points from final exams. Students who take (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) can pass the course. Those whose grades are (DC) and (DD) can also pass the course provided that they have at least 2.00 grade point average |
In order to get a bachelor’s degree one have to have at least 2.00 grade point average out of 4.00. |

In our department education and training activities are carried by 1 professor, 5 Assistant Professors, 2 lecturers, 1 specialist and 3 research assistants ,in the classes with a capacity of 56 people and a projection. We also have a well equipped workshop-research lab. And a shared computer lab.Students of our deparment have the chance to use the labs that are open all day long. |
