GULSEHIR VOCATIONAL SCHOOL OF SOCIAL SCIENCES / ÖZEL GÜVENLİK VE KORUMA

History

The Department of Property Protection and Security and Private Security and Protection Programs within the department started formal education at the associate degree level in the 2012-2013 academic year within the Avanos Vocational School. In accordance with the specialization goals in higher education, the department continues its activities in Gülşehir Social Sciences Vocational School since the 2021-2022 academic year. The language of education is Turkish.


Qualification Awarded

Those who successfully complete the program in accordance with the provisions of "Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University Associate and Undergraduate Education Regulation" and other relevant legislative provisions are entitled to receive an associate degree in Private Security and Protection.

Specific Admission Requirements

It is essential to get the "TYT" score, which will be considered sufficient for entering the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS), and to be placed by OSYM. In addition, it is obligatory to meet the conditions in subparagraphs (a), (d), (f), (h) of Article 10 of the Law on Private Security Services No. 5188. These conditions and documents required for final registration to the school are specified in the "Higher Education Programs and Quotas Guide" of the relevant year. Those who cannot prove with documents that they meet the conditions specified in these articles cannot enroll in the Private Security and Protection Program, even if they are placed by OSYM. Accordingly, subparagraph (f) of Article 10 of the Law indicates that it meets the health conditions determined by the 18th article of the relevant Regulation and the “Regulation on Health Conditions for Private Security Officers” that came into force after being published in the Official Gazette dated 26.06.2021 and numbered 31523. A “Health Report” with the words “There will be an Armed Private Security Officer” or “There will be an Unarmed Private Security Officer” should be obtained from a full-fledged hospital. Which labeled report will be taken depends on the student's preference or health status. The "Judicial Registry Document" can be obtained from the relevant authorities or e-government. These documents must be hand-delivered to the school as physical documents during the final enrollment in accordance with the last sentence of paragraph 1 of Article 33 of the Regulation. Those who cannot hand-deliver these documents to the school on the final registration dates cannot be registered to the Private Security and Protection Program.


Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

Exemption exams are held for "Foreign Language" and "Basic Information Technology Use" courses at the beginning of the academic year. Students who are successful in these exams do not take these courses. In addition, students who want to be successful from the courses they have taken and succeeded in the Private Security and Protection Program in their previous or ongoing education are deemed to have been successful and exempted those courses if the ECTS and the content of those courses are evaluated by the Department Head.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Students who have taken a total of 120 ECTS courses from the compulsory and elective courses available in the program, who fulfill the attendance requirement and successfully complete all the courses taken, can graduate if they have achieved a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.


Profile of The Programme

Private Security and Protection Program of individuals within the framework of internal security services in Turkey, institutions, organizations, etc. of temporary and permanent activities. It aims to train security personnel with knowledge, skills and attitudes that can prevent their exposure to loss of life, property, information and reputation by meeting their unique security needs.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Our students who graduated from the Private Security and Protection Program, after obtaining the "Private Security Identity Card" envisaged by the Law No. 5188 on the Private Security Services and related legislation, from the authorized official institutions, "Protection and Security Officer", "Security Officer "," Private Security Officer "can work with such titles. They can serve in various positions in these institutions if those students who graduated graduation areas of the Republic of Turkey's internal and external security of the institution providing the needed deemed necessary and appropriate for human resources.


Access to Further Studies

Students who graduate from the Private Security and Protection Program can continue their undergraduate studies by taking the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS). Our graduates who take the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) can choose "Emergency and Disaster Management" and "Social Work" programs among the undergraduate programs that provide formal education according to the information in the 2020 DGS Guide. Our graduates who entered the Vertical Transfer Exam are among the open education undergraduate programs such as “Emergency Assistance and Disaster Management”, “Labor Economics and Industrial Relations”, “Economics”, “Public Management”, “Finance”, “International Relations”, “Business Administration”, They can choose "Accommodation Management", "Social Work", "Public Relations and Advertising", "Public Relations and Promotion", "Political Science and Public Administration", "Tourism Management". Our graduates who get enough points from the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) are placed in the appropriate undergraduate program within the framework of the special conditions of the program and within the quota limits. For our graduates who have gained the opportunity to continue their undergraduate education in this way, the courses to be taken from the undergraduate program that they are placed are determined by granting exemption in the undergraduate program in which they are placed equivalent to the courses they have taken during their undergraduate education and considering their credits. Our graduates who enroll in this framework can continue their education in the undergraduate program in which they are placed.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Exams, assessment and evaluation processes and all related procedures are carried out on the dates specified in the Academic Calendar and within the framework of the "Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University Associate and Undergraduate Education Regulation". Our students must register for the course at the beginning of each semester. In order for our students to take the final exam, they must have attended at least 70% of the theoretical courses and at least 80% of the applied courses. Our students take at least 1 midterm exam and final exam from each course. The contribution of the midterm grade to the success grade is 40%, and the contribution of the final exams to 60%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. There is an obligation to get at least 45 points from the final exams. Students who get one of the letter grades (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) from a course are considered to have succeeded in that course. DC and DD grades are conditional successful grades. In order for the student to be successful in a course with a DC or DD grade, the semester grade average must be at least 2.00.


Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate, take the courses of 120 ECTS in accordance with the provisions of "Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Regulations" and other related legislative provisions, to achieve at least 2.00 weighted grade average and complete the 20-day compulsory internship training. is required.


Mode of Study

After completing the program, our graduates who obtain "Private Security Identity Card" from authorized official institutions can work full time or part time or periodically if they wish.

Educational activities in our program are carried out with four faculty members. In case of need, instructors working in our University and people working in other institutions and organizations can be assigned to education activities provided that they have the necessary conditions.
