History

The Master Program of "International Security and Terrorism" has been established at T.R.Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University Social Sciences Institute. In the Fall Semester of 2018-2019 Academic Year, graduate student has started to accept. The language of instruction is Turkish.


Qualification Awarded

Upon successful completion of the program, students are awarded a Master of Science (MSc) diploma in the field of "International Security and Terrorism".

Specific Admission Requirements

The candidates who will apply to the International Security Terrorism Master's Program must have a minimum undergraduate GPA of at least 65.00 out of 100 points and a minimum of 2.50 out of 4 in the system. Candidates' Academic Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES) score should be at least 55 from Equal Weight (EA) and Verbal score type. Candidates must be graduated from specific colleges or faculties with a four-year education. Candidates must be D successful ’in the interview exam to be conducted by the Department. Foreign students can also be admitted to the program in line with the specified quotas. Foreign students are subject to the requirements of the graduate program. Candidates who apply to the program are not required to take the conditions specified in Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University Graduate Education Regulation. The applicants are ranked according to the results of the ranking and the results of the ranking is 60% of the ALES score, 30% of the undergraduate / graduate grade point average and 10% of the foreign language score. Other candidates are not interviewed. 50% of the ALES score, 20% of the undergraduate grade point average, 20% of interview score and 10% of the foreign language score are taken into consideration. Those with a grade of 50 are considered successful and the scores are ranked from high to low. The candidates who are successful in the graduate exams and who are excluded from the quota are determined as substitute candidates. Candidates who do not take the interview exam or under 50 are considered unsuccessful. Candidates who are entitled to register are announced by the directorate of the institute. The main candidates must register within the term. Students who are not enrolled are accepted as substitute candidates according to their order of success. For the applicants of the substitute candidates, three working days shall be granted following the expiry of the registration period of the main candidates. Substitute candidates have the right to register to the vacancies according to the score ranking. Candidates who earn the right to graduate students must submit their required documents and submit their required documents at the dates determined by the Senate. The original or university approved copy of the documents required for application and registration is accepted. Incomplete or incomplete documents are not recorded. Procedures related to military service are made on the basis of the candidate's declaration. The address that the student declares in writing at the time of registration is the notification address. The students are obliged to pay the contribution fee determined in accordance with the provisions of the legislation stated in Article 46 of Law No. 2547 at the beginning of the fall and spring periods and to fulfill the registrations requested. Students who do not pay the course registration and contribution fee during the course and thesis phase are not renewed.


Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of prior learning in higher education institutions of the Republic of Turkey is at an early stage. Therefore, the recognition of prior learning in the programs of T.R.Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University has not been fully initiated.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

One academic year consists of at least 120 ECTS credits, including at least 8 courses and thesis work, including the seminar course, but not less than 60 ECTS credits. The duration of the program is four semesters regardless of whether or not it has been registered for each semester, starting from the period in which the program is registered, and the program is completed in six semesters. At the end of four semesters, the student who fails to successfully complete the courses and seminar courses in the teaching plan, who fails in the thesis study or fails to defend the thesis or fail to fulfill the requirements of the Senate in these periods will be dismissed from the institute. Students who fail to complete their thesis successfully in four semesters can register to continue their education provided that they pay the student contribution or tuition fees for the relevant semester. Students must attend 70% of the courses. The student who does not fulfill the attendance requirement is not admitted to the exams and must be re-admitted as soon as possible. For the courses taken again due to absence, the attendance requirement is sought; For the courses taken again due to failure, attendance requirements are not required. Thesis must be started at the beginning of the third semester. The thesis proposal is prepared by the student in the supervision of the supervisor, evaluated in the department of the department and delivered to the institute until the end of the second semester at the latest. Students are required to submit a thesis or a paper that has been published or published in national / international refereed journals. If the consultant deems it appropriate, the publication can be made with a single author. In order for the student to take the defense examination, the results of the thesis study which is taken by the consultant, along with the plagiarism software program report, the written opinion of the consultant on the compliance of the institute with the thesis writing rules and the electronic copy of the thesis must submit to the institute through the presidency.


Profile of The Programme

Students who know the nature of international relations, are willing to follow up to date global developments in security and terrorism, who know that it will not be enough to try to fight with terrorism only with security-based approaches, who are capable of producing local and global policies on security and terrorism.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Öğrencilerin başarı düzeyleri, yarıyıl içinde yapılabilecek ara sınavlar/çalışmalar ve yarıyıl sonunda yapılacak yarıyıl sonu sınavıyla ölçülür. Sınavlar 100 puan üzerinden değerlendirilir. Bir dersin ara sınav ve yarıyıl sonu sınav sonuçları puan ile gösterilir. Öğrencinin girmediği sınavların puanı sıfırdır. Başarı puanı, ara sınav puan ortalamasının %40’ının yarıyıl sonu puanının %60'ına eklenmesiyle hesaplanır. Öğrencinin ilgili dersten başarılı sayılabilmesi için başarı notunun en az 70, harf başarı notunun CC olması gerekir. Seminer, tez çalışması, uzmanlık alan dersleri ve diğer benzeri derslerde başarılı olan öğrencilere başarılı (BL), başarısız olan öğrencilere de başarısız (BS) notu verilir. Derse devam şartını yerine getirmediği için başarısız olan öğrencilere devamsızlıktan başarısız (DZ) notu verilir.


Graduation Requirements
