History

Article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547 amended by Law 2880 and T.C. In accordance with the decision numbered 75850160-101.02.01-72363 of the Council of Higher Education, Department of Education, Physical Education and Sports Department, Physical Education and Sports Department and Physical Education and Sports Teaching Program within the Faculty of Education as of 29/09/2021. Transferred to the Faculty of Sport Sciences.


Qualification Awarded

Students who have accomplished all the courses (equal to 240 ECTS) and have a weighted average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00 are awarded an undergraduate diploma in “PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORTS TEACHER”.

Specific Admission Requirements

a) All candidates (General, National, Disabled) who graduated from sports/arm departments or other departments of high schools took the YKS exam organized by ÖSYM for the year applied and had the lowest eight hundred thousandth (800.000) success order from the Y-TYT score type. its citizens, c) Based on the official letter of the Council of Higher Education dated 10.07.2020 and numbered 75850160-199-E.43112 on Special Talent Exams, it has been decided to apply the order of success requirement in teaching programs that accept students with special talent exams, also for disabled candidates. Accordingly, the applications of disabled candidates with the lowest eight hundred thousandth (800.000) success rank in Y-TYT will be accepted. d) Foreign candidates who fulfill the minimum application requirement accepted by NEVÜ are accepted. e) Candidates who do not have a Sports CV have the right to apply for the exam. f) The score obtained from the Special Talent Exam, Y-TYT score, nationality if any, and sports background, if any, are calculated together, and a total of 45 people with the highest score are taken.


Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of prior learning in Turkish higher education institutions are still in progress. Therefore, recognition of prior learning in Nevşehir University has not been fully accomplished. However, exemption exams from such lessons as Computer Sciences and English are held at the beginning of every academic year. Students who consider themselves capable of meeting the learning outcomes of such lessons are welcome to take the exemption test. Those who have passed the exemption test are exempt from the relevant lesson.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Students are required to complete all compulsory and elective courses (equal to 240 ECTS) in the curriculum successfully with no failing grades, and to have a weighted average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00.


Profile of The Programme

The main purpose of the Department of Physical education and Sports is; adopting universal values in the light of Ataturk's principles and revolution, respecting human rights, using science and technology by the original and aesthetic values of modern physical education and sports training with sports and sports culture, spreading love and having targeted individuals to grow in this quality by effecting communities to benefit in this way. Being a pioneer to create a community institution with individuals through the studies of graduates and students by improving the quality of national and international scientific research as a physical entity. The medium of the instruction is Turkish and education period is 4 years. The program consists of mandatory field courses, general culture courses, teacher educational courses and practical courses. In addition, students may also choose from elective courses. The courses are carried out theoretically and practically.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Graduates of the Department of Physical Education and Sport Education can work; • as physical education teacher in primary and secondary schools which are connected to the Ministry of Education, • as an instructor in the Departments of Physical Education and Sport in the School of Physical Education and Sport, and the School of Sport Sciences and Technology at universities.


Access to Further Studies

The students, who have successfully completed their undergraduate studies, can follow their graduate studies further provided they have got the necessary score on ALES (Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam) and a fair knowledge of English.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

It is necessary that every student enroll in the courses at the beginning of each term. They have to attend 70 % of the theoretical courses and 80 % of the practical courses in order to take the final exam. They are required to take at least 1 mid-term exam and a final exam for each lesson. The midterm exam (It is also possible to add the marks that students get from homework, quizzes, laboratory to the midterm exam result) contributes 40 % while the final has a share of 60 % on the pass mark. All of the exams are scored on a 100 scale. Students have to get at least 45 points on the final exam. They are considered successful in a lesson provided that they have got (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) or (CC). Students with (DC) or (DD) scores are also considered successful on condition that they have a grade point average of at least 2.00.


Graduation Requirements

Students have to pass all the courses in the curriculum (240 ECTS credits) and get a weighed grade point average of 2.00 out of 4.00.

Facilities

Research and education activities in the field of Physical Education and Sports are carried out with 3 associate professors, 2 assistant professors,1 dr. research assistant and 1 research assistant In addition, lecturers from relevant faculties and departments of our university teach at our department. In our department, the courses provide a total of 3 classrooms with a capacity of 90 people, a projection and a smart board. In addition, the sports center, tennis courts, basketball court and soccer stadium are used for practical lessons.
