Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to convey the discussions on the philosophical origins and nature of the self-concept to the students and to gain basic knowledge about theoretical approaches and research findings on issues such as self-development, self-regulation, and self-presentation.

The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 Recognizes the concept of self. PO-1 Knows the basic concepts related to psychology.

LO-2 Understands the characteristics and nature of self-concept. PO-3 Identifies, models and solves scientific problems in psychology and related fields.

LO-3 Learn subjects such as self-concept clarity, self-enhancement, self-esteem etc. PO-6 Interprets and evaluates data using advanced knowledge and skills acquired in the field, identifies and analyzes problems parallel to current technological developments, and develops solutions based on research and evidence.

Course Contents
In this course, students learn about theories of the self and research. It examines how the concept of self is handled in different fields such as social psychology and cognitive psychology. In addition, students are encouraged to think about how a lifelong self-development works and activities are carried out to get to know their own selves.
