Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to learn, recognize and distinguish the etiological factors and mechanisms underlying the disease, the concepts of inflammation and neoplasm.

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 Understands the science of veterinary pathology. PO-12 Recognizes and uses the scientific knowledge.
LO-2 Is familiar with the tissue samples being sent to veterinary pathology laboratories, and is knowledgeable on how to take samples for various laboratories during necropsy. PO-3 Registers, prepares the test materials and tests under the supervision of responsible physicians.
PO-6 Recognizes clinical examination, imaging devices and surgical instruments and supports the veterinarian during the safe use of these devices.
LO-3 Is knowledgeable on the reasons of changes in tissues and cells, and the basic concepts about how they occur. PO-3 Registers, prepares the test materials and tests under the supervision of responsible physicians.
PO-13 Follows current developments and skills required to be acquired by evaluating his knowledge and skills critically, identifies accurate information sources and has the competence to access information.
PO-15 Monitors technological innovations about devices he will help to be used in professional sense and takes place in facilities for the use of these devices.

Course Contents
This course includes inflammation and its classification, regeneration-organization, degeneration, blood flow and circulatory disorders, classification of reversible and irreversible cell injuries (degeneration and necrosis), cellular adaptation forms (cellular atrophy, hypertrophy, hyperplasia, metaplasia, dysplasia), as well as agenesis, aplasia. It covers the definition, general characteristics, classification, nomenclature and general characteristics of tumors.
