Objectives of the Course
In this course, it is aimed to learn the information about parasites, the infections they cause, the ways of preventing and fighting against parasites.

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 Will be learned (i) how to describe of a parasite (ii) the nomenclature and the life-cycle of parasites (iii) the history of parasitology and (iv) the genesis of parasites. PO-5 Recognizes parasitic infections and assists the veterinarian in further studies (vaccination, hygiene measures, medication etc.) for controlling the patients with models of infectious disease transmission.
LO-2 Will explain the transmission routes of animal and zoonotic parasites. PO-5 Recognizes parasitic infections and assists the veterinarian in further studies (vaccination, hygiene measures, medication etc.) for controlling the patients with models of infectious disease transmission.
PO-12 Recognizes and uses the scientific knowledge.
LO-3 Will be learned the main diagnostic techniques to detect parasites. PO-5 Recognizes parasitic infections and assists the veterinarian in further studies (vaccination, hygiene measures, medication etc.) for controlling the patients with models of infectious disease transmission.
PO-13 Follows current developments and skills required to be acquired by evaluating his knowledge and skills critically, identifies accurate information sources and has the competence to access information.

Course Contents
This course covers parasitological terms, nomenclature of parasites, ways of transmission of parasites in general, reproduction, development, damage they cause and ways of protection from parasites. It covers the development, epidemiology, pathogenicity, diagnosis and prevention of parasites found in some cattle and small cattle, some poultry, some equids, cats and dogs.
