Objectives of the Course
Introduce maps, to provide information about map drawing and to teach how the maps are read.

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 Acquires to the basic knowledge about maps. PO-1 An ability to apply knowledge of basic engineering sciences and earth sciences for the solution of geological engineering problems.
PO-5 An ability to acquire to design and use modern tools and products which are developed for earth sciences and engineering practices in a way that meets certain needs.
Examination
LO-2 Deepen insights to the different types and sizes of maps. PO-1 An ability to apply knowledge of basic engineering sciences and earth sciences for the solution of geological engineering problems.
PO-3 An ability to design field experiments, as well as analyze and interpret data for a predifined engineering purpose.
PO-5 An ability to acquire to design and use modern tools and products which are developed for earth sciences and engineering practices in a way that meets certain needs.
PO-6 An ability to design and carry out experiments, collect data, analyze results and interpret them in order to investigate problems of geological engineering.

Course Contents
Maps, plans and sketches definitions, map making history, the need to map, classification of maps, information contained in the maps, the concepts of scale, scaled drawings, maps drawing methods and tools, drawing by hand, coordinate concept, orthogonal and polar methods and measures to drawing, contours, the map use, introduction of computer-aided drawing programs.
