Objectives of the Course
From the time when the Persian king Cyrus put an end to the Lydian kingdom, Anatolia lived under Persian rule for approximately 200 centuries. In this period, which constitutes an important phase of Anatolian history and archaeology, it is aimed to examine the Persian-Greek-Anatolian relations within the framework of the causes and consequences of historical events and to examine why these relations affected the artistic life of the mainland Greece and Anatolia.

The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 To be able to learn about the artistic life in continental Greece and Western Anatolia. PO-2 Able to interpret and evaluate of theoretical undergraduate knowledge of archaeology and practice this knowledge in the field. Also able to identify and analyze the problems and bring solutions which are based on research and evidences.
PO-3 Able to record the archaeological data in terms of visual and statement context with technological tools.
PO-13 Able to bring different disciplines together in a meaningful manner in national and international archaeological studies in a professional level.

LO-3 To be able to discuss the place and position of the Achaemenid Empire in Greek and Anatolian art. PO-1 Have the basic and updated knowledge of archaeology with combination of ethical rules.

Course Contents
The Achaemenid Empire, which was founded in 550 BC and quickly expanded to include all of Anatolia and dominated a large geography, will examine the works that have survived to the present day on the lands it ruled, especially in mainland Greece and Western Anatolia, and the cultural influence of the Persians on them will be discussed. In this context, the effects of Persian art on Greek art will be examined, and stylistic and iconographic studies will be conducted on Persian-influenced works in Greece and Anatolia (ceramics, architecture, sculpture).
