SPOR BİLİMLERİ FAKÜLTESİ / COACHING EDUCATION DEPARTMENT (PROPOSED)

History

The Department of Coaching Education and the Department of Coaching Education were opened within the School of Sports Sciences and Technology of our University with the decision dated 22.05.2017.


Qualification Awarded

Students who successfully complete all the courses in the Department of Coaching Education Program, which is equivalent to 240 ECTS, and have a GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.00 are awarded a bachelor's degree in the field of “Coaching”.

Specific Admission Requirements

Candidates take a special talent exam for admission to the Coaching Education Program. The score obtained from the Special Aptitude Test, YKS (Basic Proficiency Test) score, National Athlete Status and Sports Resume status are evaluated together and placement to the Program is made according to the calculated score.


Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

Exemption exams are held at the beginning of each academic semester for some courses in the curriculum such as English. Students who think that they meet the expected learning outcomes of this course have the right to take the exams. Students who are successful in the exam are exempted from the English course in the curriculum.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

In order to graduate from the Coaching Education Program, students must meet the graduation and diploma requirements specified in Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University Undergraduate Education and Training Regulations and take at least 240 ECTS courses for four years.


Profile of The Programme

The language of instruction of the Coaching Education program is Turkish and the duration of study is 4 years. There are 30 ECTS courses each semester in the program. There are 158 courses in the program, 46 of which are compulsory courses, 20 of which are specialization courses, 44 of which are elective sports courses and 48 of which are elective theoretical courses. These courses include field courses, vocational courses and general culture courses.


Key Learning Outcomes of the Programme

PO-1 They have knowledge of concepts and principles related to Sports Sciences, Coaching, Conditioning, and Performance Analysis in Sports.
PO-2 They have knowledge of the service delivery processes and procedures in the fields of Coaching, Conditioning, and Performance Analysis in Sports.
PO-3 They can list short-term and long-term goals for different age groups to achieve the highest possible levels. In line with these goals, they can create training plans for both short and long terms and adapt them according to changing conditions.
PO-4 They have the knowledge to monitor, interpret, evaluate, analyze, and apply publications and current studies conducted on different age groups.
PO-5 They define the legal principles of the coach's duties, authorities, and responsibilities in accordance with the criteria and processes determined for the coaching education program.
PO-6 They define the process of planning, conducting, reporting, presenting, and developing scientific research related to coaching, including accessing information, designing research, and related statistical concepts within the framework of ethical rules.
PO-7 As a coach, they contribute to the development of sports infrastructure and acquire the necessary knowledge for training amateur, professional, and national athletes at national and international levels.
PO-8 They acquire the ability to communicate in a foreign language.
PO-9 They develop recommendations for identifying and preventing problems that may arise from sport-specific or general environmental conditions within a sport discipline.
PO-10 They consider the opinions of colleagues from different sports disciplines regarding coaching practices.
PO-11 They investigate and research problems encountered by athletes of different age groups, genders, and training levels in the fields of Sports Sciences, Coaching, Conditioning, and Performance Analysis in Sports.
PO-12 They use appropriate methods and techniques to develop athletes' critical thinking, creative thinking, problem-solving, and analysis-synthesis skills.
PO-13 They plan for talent selection, guidance, and development in coaching, as well as modeling, developing, and monitoring in sports.
PO-14 Based on their own knowledge, the coach assesses the overall condition of individuals in different age groups by identifying their sports discipline, health and lifestyle profile, deficiencies, body structure and function, and level of sports participation. Accordingly, they determine evaluation and application priorities and plan training programs, taking individual differences into account.
PO-15 They systematically implement a performance-focused regular training program by adapting it to daily life and the specific sports discipline.
PO-16 The coach periodically monitors individuals in different age groups using performance tests and adjusts the training plan as needed.
PO-17 They work in sustainable relationships and communication by collaborating with colleagues and different disciplines.
PO-18 They share sports assessments and results with other professionals within the service areas, considering the characteristics of individuals in different groups within the framework of confidentiality rules.
PO-19 They gain experience in working with other professionals in training athletes at national and international levels.
PO-20 They acquire the ability to work effectively, efficiently, and ethically with other professionals and disciplines they interact with.
PO-21 They effectively use equipment, other tools, and educational technologies related to the chosen sports discipline for their intended purpose.
PO-22 They coach in their chosen field of specialization with the license they obtain after graduation.
PO-23 They conduct current studies on individuals at different levels and groups.
PO-24 They actively use computer programs and applications required in their field.
PO-25 They develop their professional knowledge and skills in a lifelong learning process by participating in national and international in-service training, courses, workshops, seminars, meetings, and conferences organized by institutions and organizations related to Sports Sciences, Coaching, Conditioning, and Performance Analysis in Sports.
PO-26 The coach uses effective communication skills from a psychosocial perspective while respecting the confidentiality of their athletes.
