Objectives of the Course
Solving problems and acquiring opportunities in animal breeding and nutrition by providing basic information about farm animal breeding, explaining the differences of conventional and organic breeding. To design transition stages of organic farming, to teach the planning of organic livestock farming.

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 Recognizes important cattle and sheep species and breeds raised in the world and in Türkiye. PO-2 In organic farming, the most appropriate cultivation technique is applied, taking into account the ecological conditions during the production phase.
PO-11 Having awareness of professional ethics and responsibility.
PO-13 He/she independently evaluates the problems and issues he/she encounters in his/her field with an analytical and critical approach and offers solution proposals.
Examination
LO-2 Knows the morphological and physiological characters of cattle and sheep species and breeds. PO-2 In organic farming, the most appropriate cultivation technique is applied, taking into account the ecological conditions during the production phase.
PO-11 Having awareness of professional ethics and responsibility.
PO-12 To be able to carry out organic farming operations, carry out production and carry out production in accordance with the provisions of the Organic Agriculture Law and the Regulation on the Principles and Application of Organic Agriculture.
Examination

Course Contents
The importance of organic animal husbandry, problems of organic animal husbandry in Türkiye, the place of farm animals in the zoological system, domestication, cattle, sheep, goats, feeding, care, selection, reproduction, basic nutrients, digestive systems of farm animals and metabolism of nutrients and basic principles of general animal nutrition, classification of feeds and nutrition of ruminant animals.
