Objectives of the Course
To teach the scope of the epic epic concept, the research method and to compare the Turkish epic epic tradition with world epic epic traditions.

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 Knows the subject, scope, method and basic concepts of Epic Saga researches. PO-1 Graduates of Turkish Folklore Department have basic and general knowledge about discipline.
PO-2 Students will learn the basic theories and applications of folklore.
PO-6 They have a high level of knowledge about theories and methods in the field of Turkish folklore. They can approach problems in this field in a methodological and analytical way and offer solutions.
Examination
LO-2 Learns the history of epic epic tradition research. PO-1 Graduates of Turkish Folklore Department have basic and general knowledge about discipline.

LO-3 With the epic epic tradition of Turkish, Sumerian, Greek, Iranian, Finnish, Estonian, English, French, German, Russian, Ukrainian, Arabian, Indian, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Serbian, Mongolian and Tibetan epic epics, theme, hero, motif, structure makes comparisons between function and execution. PO-1 Graduates of Turkish Folklore Department have basic and general knowledge about discipline.

Course Contents
The subject, scope, method and basic concepts of Epic epic research The history of Epic epic tradition researches with the tradition of Turkish epic epic, Sumerian, Greek, Iranian, Finnish, Estonian, British, French, German, Russian, Ukrainian, Arab, Indian, Bosnian, Bulgarian, To be able to compare the theme, hero, motif, structure, function and execution between Serbian, Mongolian and Tibetan epic epics.
