Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course introduce the student to the general character of 18th century Western philosophy, the historical and philosophical aspects of the notion of Enlightenment, the social and philosophical problems/quandaries that have carried human thought to Enlightenment, and the leading theories/claims of the period.

The students who succeeded in this course:

Course Contents
The general character of the philosophical period called "Enlightenment"; the eve and sources of the period of Enlightenment; the relation of developments in natural and social sciences to the phenomenon of Enlightenment; the position and appearence of the Rationalism-Empiricism debate in the Enlightenment; the centrality of the question of the subject; the contrariety between morals and nature; the political philosophy of the Enlightenment; the aesthetics of the Enlightenment.
