Objectives of the Course
The purpose of the course is to give information about religion and society. It also analyzes the effects of religion in society and the relationship between religion and society within the sociological point of view.

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 PO-1 1-Have an advanced level of knowledge about the recent and best practices in Sociology, deepen and expand their knowledge on the expert level, conduct and assess the analyses by employing statistical methods.
PO-9 9-Transfer in a systematical way the latest developments in Sociology and their field of study reinforcing with qualitative and quantitative data to the groups either concerned with the field or not by verbal, visual and written means.
Examination
LO-2 PO-2 2-Plan experiments and carry out original researches in the field by making use of the theoretical and practical knowledge at the expert level that they have obtained in their field.
PO-5 5-Evaluate the knowledge and skills in a critical way in every activity regarding the field, thereby guiding their learning.
LO-3 PO-1 1-Have an advanced level of knowledge about the recent and best practices in Sociology, deepen and expand their knowledge on the expert level, conduct and assess the analyses by employing statistical methods.
PO-5 5-Evaluate the knowledge and skills in a critical way in every activity regarding the field, thereby guiding their learning.
PO-10 10-Monitor and supervise the social, scientific, cultural and ethical values in the process of collecting, interpreting, implementing and publishing the data related to the field of Sociology and teach those values.

Course Contents
The students will be informed about general information on religion and society. The relationship between religion and society will be examined. The subject, history and methods of sociology of religion will be mentioned. Different forms of religion and other functions of relation between religions and other institutions will be examined. The subjects about religion and society, religious groups, social stratification and differentiation, social change, social and religious integration will be examined. The students will also be informed about directorate of religious affairs and alevism-bektashism.
