Objectives of the Course | |||||
The aim of this course is to comprehend the relationship between social development indicators and economic theory with an interdisciplinary approach. In detail, one of the aims is to examine the concept of gender equality-inequality in economic, social and political activities within the framework of the impacting socio-cultural, institutional and economic factors and economic inferences. Another aim of the course is to enable students to analyze economic policy issues. |

Course Contents | ||
The concept and indicators of gender equality-inequality, supply-side factors (educational attainment, social norm, marriage and fertility decisions, etc.) and demand-side factors (changes in sectoral distribution of employment, institutional changes), labor force discrimination on the labor market (vertical and horizontal discrimination), the effect of productive distribution of labor on overall productivity, the educational attainment of women and the two-way causal relationship between economic growth and development and labor market participation. | ||
