Objectives of the Course
To equipt the students with basic information and abilities to conduct scientific research and criticism on the 19th century Turkish literature.

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 can define modernisation as a historical, social, cultural and literary fenomenon. PO-3 make an efficient use of the resources in a relevant field of study based on their graduate level of qualifications.
PO-4 use the relevant research methods and techniques and have both theoretical and practical knowledge in their field of study.
PO-6 use the knowledge they have obtained in their field of study in order to promote the level of education, culture and arts of the society.
Presentation
LO-2 can differentiate European way of modernisation with the Ottoman modernisation. PO-2 grasp the interdisciplinary interaction of their field of study and conduct joint studies with different fields of study.
PO-7 carry out independent studies requiring expertise related to their field of study
PO-8 develop new approaches in order to solve unpredictable problems encountered in their field of study.
PO-11 transfer the updates and projects carried out in their field of study by reinforcing them with qualitative and quantitative data across groups within and out of their field of study.

LO-3 recognize the first generation authors of Tanzimat Period. PO-3 make an efficient use of the resources in a relevant field of study based on their graduate level of qualifications.

PO-14 collect data related with their field of study, review and put them in practice, checking them in the process of announcing the results and taking into consideration the scientific, cultural, artistic, social and ethical values.

Introduction to literary history and theory. Evaluation of literary production, cultural and sociopolitical background, primary authors and poets and texts of the 19th century Turkish literature.
