SEMRA & VEFA KÜÇÜK HEATLH FACULTY / NURSING

History

In accordance with Higher Health Council's Resolution No. 185/1 dated 05/23/1995 and for the purpose of training midwives, nurses and health officers needed for efficient health services, in accordance with the higher education system and international norms, based on the Council of Ministers' Decision No. 22 805 which is published in the Official Gazette dated on 02/11/1996 and in accordance with the provisions of the Protocol signed between the Ministry of Health and Higher Education Council dated 22/11/1996 Vocational Health Schools under the Ministry of Health were transferred to the Universities and our College began its academic facilities under the auspicious Erciyes University in 1997-1998 academic year. Our college was connected to the University of Nevsehir after the establishment of the University in accordence with the Law No.5662 dated May 17, 2007 and took the name of Semra and Vefa Küçük Health College. "Semra and Vefa Small Health Sciences School", which is affiliated to Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University, has education as "Semra and Vefa Small Health Sciences Faculty" with the Presidential Decree dated 01/08/2019 and numbered 1385 continues to teach.


Qualification Awarded

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is given to the students who have successfully completed all the courses available in the program (equaled to 240 ECTS) and weighted at least 2.00 grade point average(GPA) of 4.00.

Specific Admission Requirements

Admission to the faculty is arranged within the framework of Turkish Higher Education Council Law and decisions. Students are admitted to the faculty in accordance with the Higher Education Entrance Examination (YKS) and Undergraduate Placement Examination results determined by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) in Ankara. Selection of foreign students entering the universities in our country is done within a certain quota according to results of a central test called Foreign Student Examination (YOS). Documents required for the registration; 1-High school diploma or its equivalent, 2- Student placement examination result determined by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM).


Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

In Turkish Higher Education Institutions, recognition of the prior learning is at the beginning level. As a consequence, for all programs of Nevsehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University recognition of prior learning has not been started yet. An exemption exam for English and Computer courses is held at the beginning of academic year. Students,who get the expected learning outcomes, have the chance of attending exams. The students who pass the exam are exempted from that course both in Fall and Spring term. Any college or associate degree program succeeded courses before registry may be exempt with the decision of the Board of Directors of the Faculty Authority.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

In order to obtain an Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Program, students must accomplish all compulsory and elective courses, a total of 240 ECTS, and have a weighted grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00.


Profile of The Programme

Profile of our nursing department; In order to protect and develop the health of the individual, family and society, to treat and rehabilitate them in case of illness, a total of 3668 hours of training program was created to be carried out as 48% theoretical and 52% practical.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Graduates can work as a nurse in preventive, curative and rehabilitative health care organizations and in all areas where tourism activities are maintained and can work free. Graduates wishing to work in academia can pursue academic work or education in Nursing Colleges, Health Colleges, Faculties of Health Sciences as a research assistant or graduate student or a doctoral student.


Access to Further Studies

Upon successful completion of undergraduate degree, candidates may study graduate programs on condition that they get a sufficient grade in ALES (Examination for Postgraduate Study and Academic Staff) test and have sufficient level of English language skills.

For graduation, it is required to pass all courses in the programme (240 ECTS), have a GPA of at least 2.00.

Facilities

In the nursing department of our faculty, 8 Dr. Faculty members and staff work in a total of 15 vocational courses, including Faculty Members, 2 Lecturers, and 5 Research Assistants. There are 7 classrooms in our school, the application of the vocational courses in the education program, the laboratories and technical classrooms available in our school, and the Rehabilitation Centers, Nursing Homes, Factory in Health Institutions (State Hospitals, Private Hospitals, Community Health Centers, Family Health Centers) in our city. and in hotels. Offered to students in our faculty; conference hall, technical classrooms for practice, computer application laboratory are available. Our school is also richly equipped in terms of educational tools. Our students can benefit from the computer lab, which is open all day, free of charge. Our university facilities and sports facilities in our region are used for sports activities, our students participate in tourism activities, which are the characteristics of our region, and valley walks are organized.
