History

Cultural Heritage and Tourism Programme; He started his associate degree education in the 2015-2016 academic year within the body of Ürgüp Sebahat and Erol Toksöz Vocational School of Nevşehir University, which was established with the law numbered 5662 dated 17 May 2007.


Qualification Awarded

Students who successfully complete all the courses available in the program (for a total of 120 ECTS) and achieve a weighted grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 are awarded an associate degree in the field of CULTURAL HERITAGE AND TOURISM.

Specific Admission Requirements

The registration of candidates to vocational schools is made in accordance with the principles to be determined by the Council of Higher Education and the Interuniversity Board. Registration to the university is done by the candidate himself. However, the registration of those who have a just and valid excuse can also be made by their relatives. A student ID card is given to the student who is registered to the university for sure. To enroll in Vocational Schools; 1) To be a high school or equivalent vocational school graduate; The conditions are required to be approved by the Ministry of National Education for the equivalence of diplomas received from foreign high schools, 2) to be placed in the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Program in that academic year as a result of the Student Selection and Placement Examination (ÖSYS). Documents required for registration: 1) High school diploma or equivalent 2) Placement result document made by ÖSYM.

Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

Students studying at Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University may be exempt from certain courses within the framework of certain regulations. Students may be exempt from certain compulsory courses if they are successful in the exemption exams announced at the beginning of the academic year.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Profile of The Programme

Undoubtedly, the most important region of the Middle East is Anatolia, which has hosted many great civilizations since the beginning of human history. The fact that it has been a preferred and continuous settlement area since the first periods of human history, that it has hosted great civilizations, and that many developments that have left their mark on the history of humanity have emerged in this geography, which brought Anatolia to have a rich cultural heritage. In recent years, it is seen that the interest in cultural heritage has increased. This trend has also significantly increased cultural tourism. Today, most of the people who want to make a touristic trip expect much more than arguments such as sea, sun, sand, snow and entertainment. In this context, countries with a rich cultural heritage like Turkey are becoming centers of attraction. However, this situation brings with it the necessity of employing qualified tourism personnel. As a result, to protect our cultural heritage well; We have to train tourism personnel with a high cultural level, talented in human relations, and visionary in order to develop tourism. The aim of the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Program is; the careful preservation of this rich cultural heritage of Turkey, whose lands are mostly located in Anatolia; Transforming these assets into tourist attractions; It is to train staff who will contribute to the efforts to promote it in a good way and, in this way, to ensure a sustainable socio-economic development.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Students who graduate from the program have the opportunity to be employed in both the public and private sectors. Our graduates take the KPSS exam; Archeology, ethnography and history museums affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism; Provincial Culture and Tourism Directorates; Cultural and Natural Heritage Preservation Board Directorates; It can be appointed to the staff of the Protection Applied Control Offices and the relevant units of the municipalities. Students who graduate from our program can also work in private sector museums, tourism agencies and hotels. In addition, they can obtain a certificate by completing the courses organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in order to be a professional tourist guide.

Access to Further Studies

Students who graduated from the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Associate Degree Program must take the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) administered by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) in order to continue their undergraduate education from the 5th semester of formal education or open education undergraduate programs. Students who graduate from this program can access detailed information from the 2022 Vocational Schools and Open Education Associate Program Graduates Vertical Transfer to Undergraduate Education Exam (DGS) Guide, which shows the undergraduate programs they can apply for within the scope of vertical transfer, the conditions of these programs and the number of students to be admitted to these programs. Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Examinations, Assessment and Evaluation Every student must register for courses at the beginning of the semester and must attend at least 70% of the courses and at least 80% of the practices in order to take the final exam. Students are subjected to at least one midterm and final exam for each course. The contribution of the midterm exam to the success grade (it can be taken into consideration in the scores obtained from measurement tools such as homework, laboratory exam, quiz, etc.) is 40%, and the contribution of the semester exam is 60%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. It is obligatory to get at least 45 points from the final exam. Students who get one of the letter grades (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) in a course are considered successful in that course. (DC) and (DD) grades are conditionally successful grades. In order for the student to be successful in a course in which he received a DC or DD grade, his/her GPA must be at least 2.0. Students who receive either (FD) or (FF) grades in a course are deemed to have failed that course.

Graduation Requirements

In order to successfully complete the program, it is necessary to pass all the courses available in the program (equivalent to 120 ECTS) and to achieve a weighted grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00. In addition, the compulsory internship training, which is 30 working days, must be completed successfully.

Facilities

Educational activities in our program are carried out with 1 lecturer doctor and 2 lecturers. In our program, the courses are carried out in classes with a capacity of 40 people and a projection device; 1 computer laboratory and 1 conference hall are used effectively in education and training activities. The students of our program can benefit from the internet connection, which is open throughout the day, free of charge.
