FACULTY OF EDUCATION / PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATION

History

Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University, Faculty of Education, Department of Basic Education, Preschool Education Program has started its undergraduate education in the 2017-2018 academic year. The language of education is Turkish.


Qualification Awarded

"Bachelor's Degree in Preschool Education" is awarded to the graduates who have successfully completed all the requirements of the program.

Specific Admission Requirements

In Turkey it is necessary that students to pass the YKS (Higher Education Examination). The only way to enter a program in University is through these tests’ scores. The students make choices in order of preference to be admitted to the programs they want to attend and send their preference form to ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center). Then the students have to provide the necessary documents and register on the mentioned dates. For the foreign students, the criteria of ÖSYM and of the quota that the university determined are taken into consideration.


Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

In Turkish Higher Education Institutions, recognition of the prior learning is at the beginning level. As a consequence, for all programs of Nevşehir Haci Bektas Veli University recognition of prior learning has not been started yet. However, exemption exams for English and Computer courses are held at the beginning of each academic semester. Students who think that they provide the expected learning outcomes from these courses have the right to take the exams.. Students who are successful in the exam are exempt from the relevant course in the curriculum.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

In order to obtain a bachelor's degree in Preschool Education Program, students are required to successfully complete the program of courses meet a minimum of 240 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00


Profile of The Programme

The Department of Preschool Education is a 4-year undergraduate program in the Department of Primary Education of the Faculty of Education. The aim of this program is to provide pre-school teacher candidates, who play an important role in the physical, mental, emotional and social development of preschool children, to gain professional and field-related knowledge, skills, behaviors and habits. In addition, to contribute to the field by conducting scientific studies in the field of preschool education.

Access to Further Studies

Candidates who successfully complete their undergraduate education can study in master's and doctoral programs if they get a valid grade from the ALES exam and have sufficient English language knowledge.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Students are required to register for classes at the beginning of the semester. In order for students to take the end-of-term exam, they must have attended at least 70% of the courses and at least 80% of the practices. There is at least one midterm (assessment methods like assignments, quizzes, presentation etc. can be calculated as mid-term grade) and one final exam for each course. The contribution of the midterm exam to the success grade is 40% and the contribution of the final exam is 60%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. To be successful in a course, students must get one of the letter grades (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC). (DC) and (DD) grades are conditionally successful grades. In order for the student to be successful in a course in which he received a DC or DD grade, his/her GPA must be at least 2.0.


Graduation Requirements

Students studying in this program must have a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 in order to graduate. The minimum number of ECTS to be earned for graduation is 240. Students are also required to complete their compulsory internship within the specified time and feature.

Facilities

Research and education activities in the Preschool Education Program are carried out with 1 associate professor, 2 doctoral faculty members and 1 research assistant (July, 2022). In addition, faculty members from the relevant faculties and units of our university give lectures in our department. In our department, classes are conducted in classrooms with a capacity of 48-80 people and projections.
