History

Nevşehir University Social Sciences Institute was established on 29th May 2007 with the official journal publication number of 26536. In 2010-2011 academic year, master programme of economy department has started education. The course language of programme is Turkish

Students who have successfully completed this programme are deserve to be awarded master degree diploma on economics.

Specific Admission Requirements

To apply the master degree of economy programme students must have; at least 55 ALES points, at least 45 foreign language points, at least bachelor’s degree grade point average 60.10 on 100 or 2.29 on 4.00. To be a master student in economy department, %60 of weighted average of ALES exam, %20 of bachelor’s degree grade average point and %20 of foreign language point are considered. Then total of this calculate must be over 50 points. According to determined quota, students who have higher points deserve precision registration.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

To deserve master degree diploma on economics, students must succeed all the courses of the programme with at least 90 ECTS lessons , have 70 points on weighted average and succeed in thesis defense.


Profile of The Programme

The main aim of this program is to gain deeper technical information and to see how to use current information on application. Other aims of the program can be listed; *to improve the questioning skills of the students who gain theoretically substantial foundation after bachelor’s degree by using econometric and statistical methods on various economic problems that can be met in daily life, to enhancement the ability to model and solve these problems and to consider, comment and make policy on developing economic activities. **also to gain essential abilities on economic analysis and economy policies to the students that are going to work as expert economist in public or private sector and to target the preparation process for the students who tend to PhD.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

There are one midterm and one final exam in every term for each lesson. Each exam’s contribution of succeed point is the weighted average of midterm exam (%40) and final exam (%60). Top point for every exam is 100. Students who have AA, BA, BB, CB, CC letter marks are counted as successful.


Graduation Requirements

To complete the programme successfully the students who educated in master programme with thesis must have at least 9 lessons equal to at least 90 ECTS and a department seminar paper before thesis study. Students who failed one of these conditions are expelled from the institute in following four terms.

Facilities

Education activities of department are maintained with 1 professor, 4 associate professors, 3 assistant professors, 1 research assistant Dr. and 3 research assistants. The lesson’s are also maintained in classes that 25 people capacity and have projection equipment. Department students can benefit from the library and computer lab which are all day opened freely.
