Information Of Programmes

VOCATIONAL SCHOOL OF NEVŞEHİR / GRAPHIC DESIGN

History

Nevsehir University Vocational School is a two year degree institution with 7500 m2 indoor area, 13 classrooms, 4 laboratory and 6 workshops. Graphic Design program began in 2002-2003 education and training. Medium of instruction is Turkish.


Qualification Awarded

The students, who achieve all the courses in the program (equivalent to 120 ECTS in total) and who get at least 2.0 Great Point Average (GPA) over 4.00 in total, are awarded an Associate’s Degree certificate in the department of Graphic Design Program.

Specific Admission Requirements

The students send their preference forms to the student selection and placement center (ÖSYM) by sorting the department preferences they can enter according to their scores as a result of the exam. ÖSYM receives all applications, groups the applications according to the score type, sorts the scores from the highest to the lowest, lists all available programs according to the preferred score type and places the students in one of their preferred programs. The selection of foreign students who will enter the universities in our country is made within a certain quota according to a central exam called the Foreign Student Exam (YÖS).


Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

The process of the recognition of prior learning in Turkish Higher Education Institutions is at starting point. So, the recognition of prior learning has not completely started yet in any programmes of Nevşehir University. However; some exemption exams are applied for some lessons such as Computer Technology or English at the beginning of both academic terms. The students who regard themselves as having the learning outcomes of these lessons can take the exams. And, the students who achieve these exams are exempted from these lessons.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The students are required to achieve all of both compulsory and elective courses ( equivalent to 120 ECTS in total ) and to get at least 2.0 Great Point Average ( GPA ) over 4.00 in total and to complete the training period of 30 work days in order to be able to get Associate’s Degree in the department of Graphic Designer.


Profile of The Programme

The aim of the programme is to train qualified designers who have knowledge and skills to be able to work as a designer in every field related with Graphic Design, assimilated the etnic values of occupation and absorbed the national values. Graphic design programme carries out its inner or outer activities and works through the Management and the Rectorate as a higher institution. The Graphic Design Programme trains the students to be employed in the work areas of graphic design. Our department tries to teach the students perfectly with all the teaching staff of the school. Our department aims to realize the European Projects and provide the students with a positive atmosphere for learning or stuying through these projects. The courses of the deparment are presented efficiently enough for the students to become employed easily or make the students who pass to undergraduate programmes adapt easily.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

The students who will graduate from Associate’s Degree of Graphic Design Programme will take the title of “Graphic Designer” or “Graphic Technician” owing to lessons that they take during their two-year education. The graduates can make their own attempts or work at printing houses, publishing places, graphic design studios, advertisement agencies, media sectors or at advertising units of both public and private sectors.


Access to Further Studies

The students, who achieve this programme, can make vertical transfer to Photography, Photography and Graphic Arts, Photography and Video, Graphic, Graphic Education, Graphic Arts, Graphic Design if they pass the Vertical Transfer Exam which is held by the students’ selection and placement center.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

All the students have to register for the courses at the beginning of each term, and have to join at least % 70 off all the courses and % 80 off all the practices in order to be able to have final exams. The students have at least 1 mid-Term exam and final exam for each course. The mid-Term exam (We can asses homework’s, lab. Exams, quizzes, etc. For the mid-Term exam grading) Contributes %40 and the final exam contributes %60 to total grade, All the exams are assessed over 100 scoring system. A student have to get at least 45 points in the final exam. And, the students who get one of the letter Marks such as ( AA ), ( BA ), ( BB ), ( CB ), and ( CC ) are accepted to achieve the course. The letter Marks such as (DC) AND (DD) MEAN CONTIDIONALLY SUCCESSFUL. Moreover, a student is required to get at least 2.0 Great Point Average ( GPA ) in order to be successful in the course whose work is ( DC ) or ( DD ).


Graduation Requirements

The students are required to pass all the courses in the programme (equivalent to 120 ECTS in total), to get at least 2.0 Great Point Average ( GPA ) OVER 4.00 in total, and to complete the training period of 30 workdays in order to be able to achieve the programme.

Facilities

There are 4 lecturers in our department. The courses are carried out in 3 studio, 1 computer labs. The students of our department can make use of free Internet in the labs and can go to library during the whole day.
