DERİNKUYU EMİNEANA AND YAŞAR ERTAŞ VOCATIONAL SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE AND LIVESTOCK / LABORANT VE VETERİNER SAĞLIK PROGRAMI

History

In accordance with the letter of the Council of Higher Education dated 20/12/2019 and numbered E.97062 and the 7/d-2 article of the Law No. 2547 amended by the Law No. 2880, the opening of the Veterinary Department-Laborant and Veterinary Health Program was deemed appropriate.


Qualification Awarded

Students who successfully complete all of the courses available in the program (for a total of 120 ECTS) and achieve a grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00 are awarded an associate degree in LABORANT AND VETERINARY HEALTH.

Specific Admission Requirements

Turkish students are placed in the Laboratory and Veterinary Health Program according to the order of preference in the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) score type made by the Student Selection & Placement Center (ÖSYM). Foreign students are accepted to the program as a result of the evaluation of their direct applications to the university.

Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

Based on the principle of lifelong learning, Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University recognizes the courses taken at another institution before and exempts them from graduation credit if the learning outcomes of these courses are compatible with those of the program registered at Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University. The compatibility of learning outcomes and exemption issues are decided by the School Board in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

In order to obtain an associate degree in the field of Laborant and Veterinary Health, students must successfully complete all of the compulsory and elective courses (total 120 ECTS) and obtain a weighted grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.0.

A medical laboratory that is sensitive to contemporary world and country conditions, keeps national culture and values ​​alive with the awareness of Atatürk's principles and reforms, aims to serve its country, nation and humanity, is based on universal science and education in the veterinary medicine and health sector, can combine theoretical knowledge with practice, Knowing the operating-hardware systems, technologies and materials, using these technologies efficiently and effectively, fulfilling the professional requirements of the profession in these processes, preparing the necessary products, putting the results into service effectively, contributing to the development of veterinary health and laboratory standards and increasing the quality of life. is to train professionals who can perceive problems in their field, produce solutions, have analytical thinking ability, teamwork and sense of responsibility.


Key Learning Outcomes of the Programme

PO-1 Recognize animal species and breeds, structural and functional (anatomical, histological, physiological and biochemical, etc.) basic features.
PO-2 Interprets vital signs of animals and performs basic first aid in appropriate cases.
PO-3 Registers, prepares the test materials and tests under the supervision of responsible physicians.
PO-4 Recognizes parasitic infections and assists the veterinarian in further studies (vaccination, hygiene measures, medication etc.) for controlling the patients with models of infectious disease transmission.

PO-9 Provides requested assistance to veterinarian during clinical examination, application of imaging methods, surgical applications ( management and administration of animals, monitoring of patiens under anesthesia etc.)

PO-11 Carries out all kinds of applications planned by the veterinarian.

PO-13 Follows current developments and skills required to be acquired by evaluating his knowledge and skills critically, identifies accurate information sources and has the competence to access information.
PO-14 Contributes to social projects planned with community awareness based on professional skills and responsibilities of authorities (takes place in briefings with farmers, theoretical and practical work etc.)
PO-15 Monitors technological innovations about devices he will help to be used in professional sense and takes place in facilities for the use of these devices.
PO-16 Uses at least one foreign language he will need during professional practice in minimum A2 level of the Common European Framework.

Graduates who successfully complete the Laboratory and Veterinary Health Associate Degree Program can work as assistant technical personnel in private veterinary hospitals, clinics and laboratories, as well as in many related institutions within the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, by gaining the title of technician. In addition, they can find a place for themselves in private farms or as auxiliary staff in poultry, cattle (meat-milk), sheep breeding and feed industry. Moreover, they can establish their own workplaces with the new knowledge they have acquired.


Access to Further Studies

Students who graduate from the Laboratory and Veterinary Health Program must take the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) conducted by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) in order to continue their undergraduate education from the 5th semester of formal education or open education undergraduate programs.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

How successful the students are in achieving the predicted learning outcomes of each course unit in the curriculum of the Laboratory and Veterinary Health Program is measured by the activities during the semester and the final exams held at the end of each semester.


Graduation Requirements

In order for a student to graduate from the Laboratory and Veterinary Health Program, they must meet the following conditions: · Successful completion of all courses with 120 ECTS credits in the lesson plan · Must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 Completion of summer internship for 30 working days (5 ECTS credits)
