History

Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University Institute of Social Sciences was established on 29 May 2007 with the declaration in the Official Gazette no. In 2013-2014 academic year, students were accepted to Ph.D. Program in Business Administration.he language of education of the department is Turkish.


Qualification Awarded

Students who successfully complete the program and ensure their program qualifications are awarded a doctorate degree in business administration.


Level of Qualification

Students who are eligible to receive a diploma from this program have a Doctoral Degree.


Specific Admission Requirements

Candidates with a master's degree can apply to this program. There is a quota of at least 5 students from Turkey and 1 foreign student. The application requirements for the program are as follows: 1- Candidates who will apply to the doctoral program of the department of business administration as a master's degree, General Business, Departments of Business Administration, Management Information System, Health Management, Human Resources Management, Tourism Management, Tourism Management and Hotel Management, Hospitality Management, Banking and International Finance, International Trade and Logistics, Management Engineering and Industrial Engineering etc. They must be graduated from master's programs with thesis. 2- ALES score of at least 60, foreign language score (YDS, YÖKDİL and equivalent exams) at least 55, 3- The graduate grade point average must be at least 65 out of 100.. In the evaluation of applications to the doctoral program, 60% of the ALES score, 30% of the graduation grade and 10% of the Foreign Language score are calculated and the candidates are determined as principal and substitute.


Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of previous structured lectures in Turkish Higher Education Institutions, transitions in vertical, horizontal and university are realized within the scope of the "Higher Education Regulations", "REGULATION BETWEEN THE BACHELORS AND GRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMS, ON HIGHER EDUCATION AND TRANSITION BETWEEN DOUBLE MAJOR DALL, SIDE DALL AND CREDIT TRANSFER STANDARDS.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

To deserve the doctoral degree; Students with a master degree must succeed all the courses of the programme with at least 24 credit lessons (120 ECTS), have 75 points on weighted average, must be successful at the proficiency exam, and must prepare a doctoral thesis and succeed in thesis defence. Students with a bachelor’s degree must succeed all the courses of the programme with at least 48 credit lessons (120 ECTS), have 75 points on weighted average, must be successful at the proficiency exam, must prepare a doctoral thesis and succeed in thesis defence.


Profile of The Programme

The aim of the doctoral program is to learn the knowledge of theory and methodology related to business management and to conduct original researches in interdisciplinary and interdisciplinary, to improve ability to produce new knowledge and to contribute to science at national and international level toward students. Within the framework of this program, it is aimed to educate graduates who are able to evaluate the information in the field of business and examine them with a deeper perspective, to develop new and original knowledge, to have a high level of knowledge in research methods, to have advanced analysis and synthesis skills. The main aim of the program is to train successful academics and experts in the field. The doctoral program in Business Administration consists of the courses offered under the fields of "Accounting and Finance", "Production Management and Marketing", "Management and Organization" and "Quantitative Methods". PhD program; For graduate graduates, a total of 4 years including 1 year of course phase and 3 year thesis phase and for undergraduate graduates, a total of 5 years including 2 year of course phase and 3 year thesis phase are included. In order to start the thesis phase, the doctoral qualification exam must be passed. Each student is assigned a consultant and the students make their choice of course with the help of their advisors.


Key Learning Outcomes of the Programme

PO-1 The candidate can understand, analyze and interpret the basic concepts and functions of Business Science in expertise level, and can apply this ability in one or more fields such as Management and Organization, Marketing, Production Management, Quantitative Methods, Accounting and Finance in expertise level.
PO-2 The candidate will learn the different perspectives about numerous theories, models and paradigms that have developed in business fields such as management and organization, organizational behavior, marketing, finance, accounting, human resources, production management, quantitative methods, and the candidate can gain knowledge and skills to evaluate, interpret and criticize scientific studies and researches,which are presented in various scientific meetings, in these fields.
PO-3 The candidate can do an original scientific/ academic researches independently or jointly with other researchers in business administration field and other social sciences` fields by using the most recent improvements in research methods, and gain knowledge, skills and responsibility to publish the results of research in books, articles and reports, to present in the scientific environment discussion such as conference and congress.
PO-4 The candidate brings new grounds in the field of business administration by providing original scientific studies, and develops a new scientific method or applies to known methods into different fields, and contributes to national and international literature.
PO-5 The candidate can understand the Department of Business Administration`s disciplines interaction with each other and the Department of Business Administration interaction with other departments. Also, the candidate can evaluate various topics with new perspectives and study interdisciplinary.
PO-6 The candidate can discuss the new information in the field of business in a systematic manner, and can gain high level skills about research methods in the field.
PO-7 The candidate can search theoretical and practical knowledge and skills which can gained in the field of Business Administration, can determine these knowledge and skills how it is used in practice and field analysis, can adapt and analyze these knowledge and skills, can make critical decisions, and can apply by reaching synthesis.
PO-8 The candidate keeps up to date his/her knowledge, follow closely national and international literature in the field of Business Administration, and can improve himself/herself not only in Business Administration, but also in other social issues.
PO-9 As a good academician and researcher, the candidate can learn to look critically to new subjects, to new developments in the field of Business Administration, to related other topics. Also, he/she can improve his/her questioning and exploratory aspects.
PO-10 The candidate can build and develop good relations with representatives of public and private sector builds and develops good relations with, and can work in disciplinary groups and interdisciplinary groups.
PO-11 The candidate can establish written, oral and visual communication with colleagues by using at least one foreign language at an advanced level.
PO-12 The candidate can follow the scientific, technological, social and cultural developments in an academic and professional way and contribute to the relevant issues and processes.
PO-13 The candidate can identify social, scientific, managerial and ethical problems that are encountered in the field of academic and professional business life, and can analyze and solve them, and contribute to the development of values related to such issues.
PO-14 The candidate will write an original doctoral thesis in business administration field which can be both nationally and internationally recognized, and gain "PhD" title in Business Administration.
PO-15 Besides academic career, the candidates can be employed at the public and private sectors, and may found their own research and/or consulting companies with their theoretical and practical knowledge.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

There are one midterm and one final exam in every term for each lesson. Each exam’s contribution of succeed point is the weighted average of midterm exam (%40) and final exam (%60). Top point for every exam is 100. Students who have AA, BA, BB, CB letter marks are counted as successful.


Graduation Requirements

To complete Business Administration Ph.D. Programme successfully; Students must take at least 9 lessons equal to at least 24 credits (120 ECTS) and a department seminar paper, and must be successful at the proficiency test which will be done after courses, before writing their thesis. Students who failed one of the lessons at the end of the four consecutive terms and who failed twice from the proficiency exam are expelled from the institute. Students must also take the specialization course which will be given by her/his doctoral supervisor. The student has to successfully complete and defend the thesis determined under the supervision of the thesis advisor..

Facilities

The academic activities of business administration doctoral program are carried out with 6 professors, 5 associate professors and 5 assistant professors. Educational and training activities in the department are performed in 3 classrooms for 30 person. All classrooms have projection devices and also there is a student computer lab with Internet connection and a student canteen. In addition to that, the social sciences institute has the Wireless Internet connection opportunity.
