FACULTY OF ECONOMICS & ADMINISTRATIVE SCIENCES / ECONOMICS

History

Our faculty is established with Business, Economics and International Relations departments dependently Erciyes University with the council of ministers’ decision on 01.09.1997 and the official journal publication on 03.09.1997. In 2001-2002 education year departments of economics and in 2003-2004 year evening education of economy department started matriculation. Our faculty connected Nevşehir University Rector ship that established with the 29.05.2007 official journal publication and the law no of 26536. The course language of programme is Turkish.


Qualification Awarded

Students who have successfully completed this programme are deserve to be awarded bachelor’s degree diploma on economics.

Specific Admission Requirements

In our cuntry, it is required to succeed in Student Selection Examination (YKS) to deserve university education. For bachelor’s degree, this condition is enough to have. Students make university and programme decisions related their points. Then they send choosing forms to Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM). This institution is dependent to High Education Board (YÖK). ÖSYM gets these forms, groups applications depend on point type and put the points in order from high to low. After all these stages, place them one of their choice according to their lists. Choosing for foreign students is depending on the result of Foreign Student Examination (YOS). The documents that required in admission; 1- Diploma for high schools and their equivalents, 2- The placement result document.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

To deserve bachelor’s degree diploma on economics, students must succeed all the courses of the programme (total 240 ECTS) at least 2.00 grade point average on 4.00.


Profile of The Programme

The main aim of this program is to gain students the information and ability to analyze, forecast and make the right decision on the economic issues of quickly changed and developed world economy Other aims of the program can be listed; *to teach economic principles and tools that can be needed after the university education and thus to train qualified labor tries to be successful against the quickly changed global conditions. **to improve the ability of systematic and independent consideration that can be useful for all areas of the human life and to gain students scientific discipline on economic issues.


Key Learning Outcomes of the Programme

PO-1 have information about basic economic topics and indicators.
PO-2 have basic information about treatment rules between individuals, markets and countries.
PO-3 have information about the reasons and results of transition that take place in economics
PO-4 have theoretical and empirical information to analyze how to authorities, consumers and firms effect each other and how to make decision.
PO-5 have upper explanation ability on the effects of economy policies on individuals and firms under the principles which are dominating economy.
PO-6 have ability on examining and analyzing the effects of economic policies.
PO-7 have ability on considering the basic items of Money, Banking and Financial System and the treatment process of these items.
PO-8 have ability on working with quantitative data about economics and using the tools about statistically data analysis.
PO-9 have ability on commenting current economic issues considering economic theory in the view of sociology.
PO-10 have ability on modeling the economic theories mathematically.
PO-11 have ability on defining economic variables and comment on the relationships between these variables.
PO-12 know the stages that need to apply in a research and do research.
PO-13 tell his/her information or ability by using written, spoken or visual tools.
PO-14 have ability to respect different religions, life styles and question the information in the view of scholar idea.
PO-15 can work, take initiative and lead within the teams which consisted different disciplines.
PO-16 report preparation that examine the economy in terms of sectoral and macroeconomic.
PO-17 know the importance of sustainable growth and development with environmental conscious.
PO-18 can refresh information and ability, global economic developments demand, recognizing his/her professional ethic and responsibilities.
PO-19 can find solutions about the juridical problems which can be met in business life.
PO-20 adopt basic and related software and information and communication technologies on an advanced level

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

There are one midterm and one final exam in every term for each lesson. Each exam’s contribution of succeed point is the weighted average of midterm exam (%40) and final exam (%60). Top point for every exam is 100. Students who have AA, BA, BB, CB, CC letter marks are counted as successful. DC and DD letter marks are conditioned successful marks. Students who have these two marks must have at least 2.00 grade point average to succeed the education process.


Graduation Requirements

To complete the programme successfully the students must have at least 2.00 grade point average on 4.00.

Facilities

Education activities of department are maintained with 1 professor, 4 assistant professors, 3 ast professor and 3 research assistants. The lesson’s are also maintained in classes that average 45 people capacity and have projection equipment. Department students can benefit from the library and computer lab which are all day opened freely.
