History

In the academic year of 2008-2009 Nevşehir University Institute of Social Sciences Department of History was established and began accepting both Master students and academic preparetion students. Medium of Teaching is Turkish.


Qualification Awarded

The students who successfully fulfill the program are given Master (Science Expert) diploma on the field of History.

Specific Admission Requirements

For the Master and PhD programs, to have a Bachelors degree in the specified fields (graduation Point), ALES and foreign language test results are calculated and and number of candidates as specified in the anouncement are accepted as actual and substitute students. Documents needed for the registration; 1 – Bachelor’s Diploam, 2 – ALES Result. 3 – Original ID Card 4 – Foreign Language Result ( ÜDS, KPDS etc.) 5 – Military Service Document. 6 - CV


Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

The recognition of the previous learning is at the stage of beginning in the Turkish Educational institutions. For this reason, the recognition of the previous loearning has not been started in all the programs of Nevşehir University.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

To have at least 2.00 out of 4.00 to fulfill all the courses existent in the program (Total 120 AKTS Credits).The students who fulfill successfully all the courses and has achieved a score of 70 out of 100 for graduation as well as presenting a thesisis in front of a jury with success are give Master Diploma (Science Expert) in the field of History.


Profile of The Programme

Our program consists of Academicians who are experts on their fields and the necessary studies are conducted in the lessons. The study fields of our department are Ancient History, Medieval History, Early Modern History, Modern History and the History of the Republic of Turkey. The aim is to develop analysis, synthesis, and evaluation skills, to produce an original scientific study by using then research methods, and to transmit what he knows as an individual who carries all the responsibilities given by the law. The wish is to provide the success of the students in their working fields both in the private and govermental sectors and especially to have teachers in this field. Also to improve our students as experts in the fiield of history who are talented on both national and international levels. The students who successfully fulfill this program : 1-İmproves and develops his skills by depending on his bachelor’s degree proficiencies on an expertise level on different fields. 2-Perceives the interdisciplenary interaction of his fields and pursues common studies with different fields. 3-Can use the sources related to his field eficiently depending on his bachelor’s degree knowledge. 4-Uses the research methods related to his field, and has theoratical and practical knowledge. 5-Can evaluate, analyse and produce new results by comparing his fields knowledge with the knowledge he gained from the other fields. 6-Uses the knowledge he has gained on his field to promote the educational, cultural and artistic level of the society. 7-Can pursue a study on his field which requires expertiser independently. 8-Can develop new approaches for the solution of complex problems on his field. 9-Can become a leader for the solving of problems related to his field; can organize individual, institutional and team studies related to his field. 10-Observes the social relations and the norms that shape these relations with a critical eye, develops them and acts if necessary to change them. 11-By suppoprting the projects pursued on his field with qualitative and quantitative data and transmits them to the groups from and out of his fields through appropriate comunication channels. 12-Can have written and verbal comunication in a foreign language at B2 level according to the European Language Portfoglio. 13-Can use the computer softwares as well as IT and telecomunication technologies at a proficient level as required by his field. 14-Gathers data related to his field, evaluates and applies them and controls them by taking into consideration the cultural, scientific, artistic, social and ethical values and he describes these values. 15-Acts in accordance with the quality control processes and contributes. 16-Perceives the knowledge related to his field at an experts level and transmits the to the second parties in accordance with the norms.

PO-1 able to conceptualize historical events and phenomenons with scientific methods and techniques by expert appraisal.
PO-2 able to use use of interdisciplinary approaches during this study
PO-3 able to define the information acquired at the level of expertise, evaluate critically and analyze the information obtained.
PO-4 able to access to historical datas, interpret these datas and assess the reliability and validity of these datas.
PO-5 able to use national and universal values and assimilate these values.
PO-6 able to develop applicable materials in the area of history
PO-7 able to develop life long learning progress
PO-8 able to direct the learning processes of the people who are under their control.
PO-9 able to plan professional projects and activities at the level of expertise with the awareness of social responsibilities and to perform these projects and activities.
PO-10 able to establish oral and written communication in a foreign language on a B2 level of European Language Portfolio.
PO-11 able tou se information and communication technologies and renew themselves by the following the developments in this area.
PO-12 able to develop customs suitable for democracy, human rights and scientific and professional ethics.
PO-13 able to continue PhD programme by the means of acquired skills from this programme.

Graduates of this program can work as a teacher ıf they can get get required score from KPSS and appointed by MEB. Graduates of this program can make an academic career.İn addition, working as a clerk for written and visual media and other public institutions.


Access to Further Studies

Candidates who completed master education can study in graduate programs provided that they have take current note from ALES and sufficient Englishlanguage skills

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Students are subjected to at least one midterm and final exam for each course.The midterm exams contribution 40% to success grade, final exams contribution 60% to success grade.All exams are evaluated over 100 points.Students who has received a letter grade (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) are considered successful from that course.Final exam are required to obtain at least 70 points.

Facilities

The educational activities of the department are conducted by four associate professors, twelwe assistant professors, fiveresearch assistants. Courses are taken in the classrooms which are equipped with devices all the electronics (computer, projector and internet) in the institute
