Information Of Programmes

FACULTY OF LETTERS & SCIENCE / TURKISH FOLKLORE DEPARTMENT

History

Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University Faculty of Arts and Sciences was established with the law no. 5662 dated 17 May 2007. With the experts trained by the Turkish Folklore Department, which was established on 02.04.2014, folklore teaching in all private and state educational institutions, intangible cultural heritage program producer in the media, folklore open-air museum expertise and folklore research within the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, cultural animation in the field of tourism. It is aimed to meet the needs in many fields such as the design of the designer, the management of the intangible cultural heritage department in the cultural centers to be established by the private sector within the scope of the Law No. 5225. The language of education is Turkish.


Qualification Awarded

A bachelor's degree in Turkish Folklore is awarded to students who successfully complete all of the courses available in the program (for a total of 240 ECTS) and achieve a grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00.

Specific Admission Requirements

In our country, it is necessary to be successful in the YGS and LYS selection exam to enter universities. Entrance to undergraduate programs depends only on the score obtained from this exam. Students send their preference forms to the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) by listing the department preferences they can enter according to the scores they get as a result of the exam. ÖSYM is an institution affiliated to YÖK. ÖSYM receives all applications, groups the applications according to the type of score, ranks the scores from the highest to the lowest, lists all available programs according to the preferred score type, and places the students in one of the programs they prefer. Selection of foreign students to enter the universities in our country, foreign students are also accepted within the framework of a certain quota according to the results of a central exam called the Foreign Student Examination (YÖS). Documents required for registration; 1 - High school diploma or equivalent, 2 - Result of placement made by ÖSYM.


Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

The process of recognition of prior learning in Turkish higher education institutions is still in its infancy. Therefore, the recognition of prior learning has not been fully initiated in all programs of Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University. However, an exemption exam is held at the beginning of each academic term for courses such as Computer and English, which are included in the education plans of the programs. Students who think that they provide the expected learning outcomes from these courses have the right to take the exams. Students who are successful in the exam are exempt from the relevant course in the curriculum.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

In order to obtain a bachelor's degree in Turkish Folklore, students must successfully complete all of the compulsory and elective courses (a total of 244 ECTS) and obtain a weighted grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00.


Profile of The Programme

The main objective of the Turkish Folklore Department is; scientific understanding, modern, democratic, productive, sensitive to the problems of the country and the world, producing solutions, adapting to changing conditions. It aims to raise individuals who have future-oriented goals, teamwork, leadership and communication skills, and can use communication and educational technologies. A four-year undergraduate program is implemented in the department.


Key Learning Outcomes of the Programme

PO-1 Graduates of Turkish Folklore Department have basic and general knowledge about discipline.
PO-2 Students will learn the basic theories and applications of folklore.
PO-3 Learn the theories and concepts of folklore with the epistemological foundations and apply them to the materials they collect in their professional lives.
PO-4 They will have knowledge about the approaches and methods developed in folk culture and will be able to prepare and apply lesson plans and activities appropriate to these methods.
PO-5 Graduates of the Department of Turkish Folklore will be able to analyze the processes of creation, transfer and execution of folklore products and analyze the changes and transformations of public life.
PO-6 They have a high level of knowledge about theories and methods in the field of Turkish folklore. They can approach problems in this field in a methodological and analytical way and offer solutions.
PO-7 They produce knowledge about society and use the information they produce in solving economic, social and technological problems.
PO-8 They will be able to analyze the basic elements of culture and to take an active role in the protection of the information channels that protect the identity of the society through their inferences.

Graduation Requirements

Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education can study in graduate programs, provided that they get a valid grade from the ALES exam and have sufficient English language knowledge.

The Turkish Folklore Department is in a new and modern building and its classrooms are equipped with modern technology such as internet connection, computer and projection devices, and smart boards. In the department, which has a young, dynamic and educational academic and administrative staff, the teaching staff who will conduct the courses are strong in terms of education and field knowledge, scientific and artistic studies can be carried out in national and international fields, the cooperation between university units is strong and healthy, social and scientific The sufficient number of cultural and cultural activities, the presence of a strong library in the central campus of the University, the development of the University in terms of health, sports, social assistance and solidarity, nutrition and accommodation, transportation, and the absence of any problems in terms of both staff and students.
